A bus operator coach on its route

ABOUT BUSPORTAL

About BUSPORTAL

BUSPORTAL is built and supported by the Ukrainian company ITNET. The product is made for bus operators — from a few routes to a large fleet.

BUSPORTAL helps a bus operator manage tickets, bookings, trips, passengers, drivers, buses and finances in one system. The platform is built and supported by the Ukrainian company ITNET.

We build BUSPORTAL not as yet another middleman between the bus operator and the passenger, but as a working tool for the operator itself: with its own website, direct sales and its own customer base.

Who is behind BUSPORTAL

BUSPORTAL is built and supported by ITNET LLC — a Ukrainian company from Lviv that creates CRM systems and digital products to automate complex business processes.

The ITNET team is responsible for more than the code. We help migrate schedules and routes, set up prices and bus seat maps, connect the website and the payment methods, train the staff, and stay with the bus operator after the launch.

BUSPORTAL runs on a subscription as a cloud platform. A bus operator does not need to install a server in its own office or maintain separate programs for every department.

Why we built BUSPORTAL

Bus management software

The BUSPORTAL workspace with a list of trips

SOFTWARE

The BUSPORTAL driver app on a smartphone

The work of a bus operator is often spread across spreadsheets, notebooks, phone calls, chats and several separate programs. The schedule is kept in one place, the passenger list in another, the payments in a third, and the current location of the bus has to be looked up in yet another service.

While there are only a few trips, this setup can feel normal. But as the company grows it takes up more and more time and creates risks:

  • the same seat can be promised to two passengers;
  • the dispatcher, the driver and the cashier work from different lists;
  • a change to a trip does not reach the whole team at once;
  • payments, expenses and actual revenue are hard to verify;
  • passenger contacts stay in chats and do not drive repeat sales;
  • the owner sees isolated numbers, but not the full picture of the company.

That is why we brought the core processes of a bus operator together in one platform. A booking becomes part of a specific trip, the seat disappears from every sales channel at once, the driver gets an up-to-date passenger list, and the owner sees sales and fleet operations without merging spreadsheets by hand.

One platform instead of a set of separate programs

CRM and booking

CRM for bus operators stores bookings, passenger data, seats, payments and the history of changes. The bus ticket booking system works with a single live cabin layout, so a seat that is already sold or reserved cannot be booked again.

Your own ticket sales website

A website for a bus operator runs under its brand and at its own address. The passenger finds a trip, picks a seat, pays for the order and receives an e-ticket. The schedule, prices and seat availability come straight from BUSPORTAL.

Dispatch software

Dispatch software brings active trips, buses, drivers, passengers, transfers, payments and problem situations together in one workspace.

Driver app

The driver app shows the assigned trips, the stops, the passenger list, seats, payments, luggage and extra services. The driver can check tickets during boarding and pass the data the dispatcher needs from the trip.

GPS tracking

Bus GPS tracking shows the vehicle in the context of a specific trip: the route, the stops already passed, deviations from the schedule and the estimated arrival time. The passenger can see where their bus is right now through a link in the e-ticket.

Transfers to the bus and after the trip

The transfer system helps organise passenger pickup from their address to the scheduled bus, or from the bus to the final destination. For every geo zone you can set your own pricing rules, vehicle and approximate pickup time.

Our principles

The platform works for the bus operator

BUSPORTAL is not a ticket aggregator. The website runs under the bus operator brand, payments go to its account, and the passenger base stays in its system. Aggregators can be an additional sales channel, but they do not take the main connection with the customer away from the operator.

We start with real routes

In the demo we do not show an abstract presentation, but how the system will work on the routes, fares and bus seat maps of your own company. That way the owner and the team can assess the future process before a full rollout.

We do not make you drop everything at once

BUSPORTAL can be adopted step by step. The bus operator decides which modules and integrations come first. An existing website can be integrated or migrated, and BUSPORTAL GPS tracking, where the hardware supports it, can run in parallel with the system the company already uses.

People stay in charge

Automation takes over repetitive operations, but it does not take control away from the team. A dispatcher can check and correct the data, the owner sets the rules of work, and access rights limit information according to each employee's role.

Development driven by the work of bus operators

New BUSPORTAL features come out of practical tasks: how to avoid double selling, speed up boarding, organise door-to-door transfers, show the passenger the bus on a map, or bring a customer back for the next trip.

implementation

How implementation works

  1. 1

    We get to know how the company works

    We clarify the routes, sales channels, team structure, bus seat maps, payment methods and the tasks that take up the most time.

  2. 2

    We set up the platform

    We migrate the routes and stops, and configure the schedule, fares, buses, seats, employees and access rights.

  3. 3

    We connect the channels you need

    Depending on the company's needs we connect the website, online payments, notifications, the driver app, GPS, transfers and any other modules required.

  4. 4

    We train the team

    We walk the owner, the administrators, the dispatchers and the drivers through the system separately. Each employee learns only the operations they perform in their own role.

  5. 5

    We support you after the launch

The ITNET team helps you check the first trips, answers your questions and supports the system in day-to-day work.

BUSPORTAL in a bus operator's daily work

The international bus operator VD-EXPRESS uses BUSPORTAL for bookings, ticket sales, trip management, transfers, driver work, GPS tracking and financial accounting.

According to the VD-EXPRESS case study:

  • 600+

    bookings per month

  • 25%

    of tickets are sold online

  • 11

    vehicles in the system

  • boarding became almost twice as fast

  • 8

    geo zones for organising transfers

  • the bus operator stopped using paper lists on trips

ITNET — the developer and operator of BUSPORTAL

ITNET LLC develops, supports and updates BUSPORTAL. The team is responsible for the platform, the implementation, user training and customer support.

We want digitalisation to be clear for the fleet owner and the team: with no need to stitch together dozens of services yourself, keep a separate IT department, or move the same data by hand.

Frequently asked questions

Who develops BUSPORTAL?

BUSPORTAL is developed and supported by the Ukrainian company ITNET LLC. The ITNET team is responsible for the platform, the implementation, user training and ongoing support.

Is BUSPORTAL a ticket aggregator?

No. BUSPORTAL gives the bus operator the technology for its own sales. The website, the brand, the payments and the passenger base stay under the operator's control. If needed, aggregators can still be used as additional channels.

Which bus operators is the platform designed for?

BUSPORTAL is designed primarily for intercity and international bus operators. The system suits a company with a single bus just as well as a fleet with several routes, drivers, dispatchers and sales channels.

Do all the modules have to be connected at once?

No. The set of modules and integrations is defined by the processes of your company. You can start with bookings and dispatch, and later add your own website, GPS, the driver app, transfers and marketing tools.

Can we keep our existing website and GPS system?

Yes. An existing website can be integrated with BUSPORTAL or migrated onto the platform. Your current GPS system does not have to be replaced either: coordinates can be exchanged in parallel if the tracker model and firmware support sending data to a second server. Otherwise the driver app can supply the coordinates for BUSPORTAL.

How can we see BUSPORTAL in action?

Book a demo and send us your schedule. We will show how your routes, bookings, seats, drivers and other company processes will look in BUSPORTAL. Once it is set up, you can test the platform free of charge for 30 days.
